How do I check an aircraft before buying?
Ask for the complete airframe, engine and propeller logbooks, the current airworthiness review certificate (ARC) or annual, and the list of applicable airworthiness directives. Then commission an independent pre-purchase inspection at a maintenance organisation you choose, not the seller's.
What do TTAF and SMOH mean in aircraft listings?
TTAF is the airframe total time in hours since new. SMOH is engine time since major overhaul. Compare SMOH against the engine's TBO (time between overhauls) — an engine close to TBO can add tens of thousands of euros to the true purchase price.
Is VAT due when buying a used aircraft in Europe?
It depends on who sells it and where. Private sales inside the EU are generally VAT-free, dealers charge VAT or use the margin scheme, and imports from outside the EU attract import VAT. Every VoloMarket listing shows its VAT status next to the price.
Can I make an offer below the asking price?
Yes. Signed-in buyers can submit a formal offer on any for-sale listing; the seller can accept, decline or counter, and both sides keep a written record inside VoloMarket messaging.
